Pop-Up Hair Portraits

One of my favorite parts of being a hairstylist is all of the different people I get to know by doing their hair. While prepping for my Feb. 2013 pop-up hair salon in NYC I had the idea to bring a photographer along with me to document all the women whose hair I cut. I wanted to document all the different people I saw both days and group them together in a place other than my own brain. All these women have totally different lives but they were all somehow referred to me as a hairstylist and trusted me with their hair on the day of these photos.

I'm so thankful for everyone who was willing to have their photo taken, the staff at Poppy and of course Tim Gibson and Belathee for hanging out with us all day and taking these beautiful portraits. I will be posting clients' portraits including a few questions they each answered about themselves throughout the next couple of weeks. Below is one of the first clients from Day 1, photographed by Tim Gibson.

Jacqueline Sheller // Nearly Newlywed Founder & CEO

What do you like about your hair?
I like that it is long, straight, and low maintenance.

What do you like about how Rubi styled your hair?
I love that she was able to make it look effortless, a bit disheveled, but still put together with a little bit of 'flirt' for good measure.

Who is your style icon?
Diane Kruger.

What is your next travel destination?

Photographer Tim Gibson
